1Who We Are
NURDE is a clinical reference application developed and operated by LFJC LLC, a company organized under the laws of the State of California. References to "we," "us," or "our" in this Privacy Policy refer to LFJC LLC.
This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information in connection with our website at lfjcllc.com and the NURDE application ("the App").
2Information We Collect
We collect very limited information:
- Account information — using the App requires a free account. We collect the email address, display name, and professional role (e.g., Student, RN) you provide. Your password is handled by Google Firebase Authentication in salted, hashed form — we never see or store your plain-text password. We use your email address to send an account-verification link and, if you request one, a password-reset link.
- Study progress — your practice-question progress (spaced-review schedule and daily-streak data) is stored in your account so it can sync across your devices. This is study data about your own learning; it contains no patient information.
- Email addresses (notification form) — if you voluntarily submit your email address through the notification sign-up form on our landing page, we store that address for the sole purpose of sending you product launch and feature update notifications.
- Payment information — NURDE is currently free. If paid subscriptions are introduced in the future, payment information (such as credit card number and billing address) would be collected and processed by a third-party payment processor or the app store you purchase through — never stored on our own servers — and this policy will be updated before that happens.
- No other personal information is collected — we do not collect phone numbers, device identifiers, location data, usage analytics, or any other personal data beyond what is described above.
Beyond the items above, we do not collect any information from within the App. Clinical reference content is bundled on your device, and your preferences and personal notes stay in your device's local storage without being transmitted to us or anyone else.
3How Your Information Is Used, Stored & Deleted
For your NURDE account:
- Your email address, name, role, and study progress are used solely to operate your account: verifying your email, signing you in, resetting your password on request, and syncing your study progress across your devices.
- This data is stored with Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore) on servers located in the United States, protected by per-user security rules so that only your own signed-in session can read or write your data.
- We will never sell, rent, trade, or share your account information with any third party for marketing or any other purpose, and we send no marketing email to account addresses.
- Account deletion: you can permanently delete your account and all associated server-side data at any time directly in the App (menu → Delete Account; you will be asked to confirm your password). Deletion takes effect immediately. You may also request deletion by emailing admin@lfjcllc.com from your account email address, and we will delete your account and its data within 30 days.
If you provide your email address through our notification form:
- Your email is collected solely to notify you when new specialties and features launch within NURDE.
- We will not sell, rent, trade, or share your email address with any third party for marketing or any other purpose.
- You may request deletion at any time by contacting us at admin@lfjcllc.com, or unsubscribe via the link in any email we send. We process deletion requests within 30 days.
4The App: Data Practices
The NURDE clinical reference App is designed with privacy as a fundamental architectural principle:
- No patient data. The App does not collect, transmit, or store any patient data or Protected Health Information (PHI).
- No analytics or tracking. We do not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, advertising identifiers, or any other analytics or tracking service within the App.
- Free account. The App uses a free account (email and password, or — on the web app — Google sign-in) to sync your study progress across devices. Signing up requires only an email address, a name, and your professional role — nothing more.
- On-device storage. Your preferences, personal notes, and study progress are kept in your device's local storage; only study progress syncs to your account, and personal notes never leave the device.
- Offline by design. Clinical reference content is bundled locally and works without an internet connection. The App makes network requests only to authenticate your account and sync your study progress with Google Firebase, as described in Sections 2 and 3.
5Notes Feature: Stored on Your Device Only
The App includes a notes feature that allows users to add personal annotations to protocols. This feature operates as follows:
- Notes are stored only in your device's local storage so they persist between sessions on that device.
- Notes are never transmitted to any server or third party, and they are not included in account cloud sync.
- Deleting a note in the App, or clearing the App's site/app data on your device, permanently removes it.
- LFJC LLC has no access to, and never receives, any notes created by users.
Users are advised not to enter any patient-identifying information into the notes feature. See also the No-PHI section of our Terms of Service.
6Third-Party Services
Google Firebase. Your account information and study progress are processed and stored by Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore), acting as our service provider. Firebase also delivers our account-verification and password-reset emails. Google processes this data on our behalf under its own terms and safeguards; you can review Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Google Fonts. Our landing page loads the Inter typeface from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests this font file, Google may log your IP address and browser information in accordance with Google's own privacy policy. We do not control Google's data practices.
Other than the services above, we do not use any third-party services, trackers, or embedded widgets. There are no social media pixels, advertising networks, or data brokers involved in the operation of this App or landing page.
7HIPAA Notice
LFJC LLC is not a HIPAA-covered entity and is not acting as a business associate under HIPAA. The App is not designed for, and must not be used for, the creation, receipt, maintenance, or transmission of Protected Health Information (PHI).
The App includes explicit in-application warnings against entering any patient-identifying information. Because we collect no PHI and are not a covered entity or business associate, HIPAA's Privacy Rule and Security Rule do not apply to our operations.
Users remain solely responsible for complying with HIPAA and all applicable regulations within their own clinical practice and institution.
8California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) provides you with the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Right to Know. You have the right to request disclosure of what personal information we have collected about you and how it is used.
- Right to Delete. You have the right to request deletion of personal information we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions.
- Right to Opt-Out of Sale. You have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. We do not sell personal information, so this right is not currently implicated.
- Right to Non-Discrimination. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@lfjcllc.com. We will respond to verifiable requests within 45 days.
9Rights for Users in the European Union (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) grants you specific rights regarding your personal data:
- Right of Access. You may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to Rectification. You may request correction of inaccurate personal data.
- Right to Erasure. You may request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Right to Restrict Processing. You may request that we limit how we use your personal data.
- Right to Object. You may object to our processing of your personal data.
- Right to Data Portability. You may request a copy of your personal data in a portable format.
The legal basis for processing notification-form email addresses is consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), which you may withdraw at any time. The legal basis for processing account information and study progress is performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) — providing the account and sync service you request. Deleting your account ends that processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at admin@lfjcllc.com.
10Children's Privacy
NURDE is a clinical reference tool intended for nurses and nursing students. The App and landing page are not directed at individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected information from a minor, we will delete that information promptly.
11Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect the limited personal information we hold (account information, study progress, and notification-form email addresses) against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. Account data is protected in transit by TLS encryption; passwords are stored only as salted hashes by Google Firebase Authentication; and per-user database security rules ensure each account can access only its own data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App or landing page after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
If we make material changes that affect your rights or how we handle personal information, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users who have provided email addresses.
